My Haircut Story – Haircut Visual Story, Step Poster and Picture Cards (A4 + US Letter)
Haircuts can be hard: the cape, the water spray, the buzz of the clippers. My Haircut Story helps your child know exactly what will happen, before you go and while you’re there. Made by a dad for his own autistic, ADHD son.
What you get (instant download, 5 pages)
- Having a haircut: a 6-picture visual story to read in the days before
- A My haircut poster with 8 picture steps: wait, cape on, water spray, comb, clippers, mirror, say thank you, all done
- Step strips to take with you
- 9 picture cards (52 mm), including ear defenders and teddy, and 3 blank cards you can type on
- A one-page set-up guide with tips
How it works
- Read Having a haircut together a few times in the days before.
- Take a step strip with you and point to each step as it happens.
- Tell the hairdresser what helps, like no water spray or scissors instead of clippers.
Two editions
UK A4 and US Letter PDFs, both in your download (UK says hairdresser, US says hair stylist). Print at 100% on thin card (cardstock) and laminate.
Works with the rest of the shop
The cards are the same 52 mm size as all our kits, so they fit every board in the shop.
